Mount Riley Seventeen Valley Pinot Noir

Mount Riley Seventeen Valley Pinot Noir 2009

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 91+

The 2009 17 Valley Pinot Noir gives a pale to medium ruby-purple colour and intense black cherry and pomegranate aromas wit some loam, tree bark, black pepper and forest floor.  Crisp in the mouth with a medium level of fine grained tannins, this medium-full bodied Pinot displays a great concentration of berry fruit and earth flavoured layers and great persistence.  Approachable now, it should drink to 2015+.

Peter Forrestal, Australia's Sunday Times 19 June 2011

This flagship pinot, largely sourced from 17 Valley vineyard in Marlborough, is something special. It has riotously floral, toffee-apple aromatics, intense raspberry and black-cherry flavours, and a velvety, almost satiny, texture.

Gourmet Traveller Wine Dec/Jan 2009, Bob Campbell MW 91 Points

Stylish wine with dense cherry, plum and spice flavours and a lingering finish. the wine is fresh with good purity and a pleasing minerality rare in Marlborough pinot noir. It's also beginning to show the benefits of bottle age.

Wine NZ Magazine, Autumn 2008

Bold colour. Fragrant forest floor notes and some spice. Palate is ripe and full showing dark cherry, plum, red currant and chocolate. There is plenty of finely integrated, spicy oak. Concentrated, very creamy textured, plush wine with miles of room for development yet. Big, lush, ripe tannins and mineral finish. Top class.
