Winemaking: The grapes that went into this wine were sourced from multiple vineyard sites throughout the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. Multiple vineyard parcels and clonal material means we can make a complex and complete wine with great fruit character and depth of flavour. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for nine months in French barriques.

Winemaking: The grapes that went into this wine were sourced from Marlborough and Nelson. Cool spring weather during flowering resulted in moderate crop levels and meant the fruit we harvested had impressive depth of flavour and weight. Harvest was a little later than usual but warm weather through March and April meant we were able to fully ripen grapes and resulted in ripe flavours and tannins. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for nine months in French barriques.

2009
Winemaking: The grapes that went into this wine were sourced from Marlborough and Nelson. Weather at both bud burst and fruit set was ideal in the 2009 growing year resulting in large potential crops. High rainfall in February resulted in the need to reduce crop and expose fruit to reduce disease pressure and resulted in light, intense crops. From March right through to the end of our harvest at Mount Riley, Mother Nature was kind to us - we had virtually no rain and were able to pick when flavour was at its peak and sugars and acidity in the grapes were perfectly balanced. Grapes were then cold soaked, fermented on skins and aged for nine months in barrel.
Colour: Mid-red with garnet and ruby hues.
Bouquet: An intensely aromatic wine with red berry and cherry aromas are at the forefront supported by subtle spicy, earthy aromas.
Palate: An approachable, elegant wine with soft tannins, delicious ripe red fruit flavours and concentration.
Drink: Drinking well now and up to 2013. Great as an aperitif or with chicken, game, red meat and pasta.

Vintage
2008
Winemaking: The grapes that went into this wine were sourced from Marlborough and Nelson. We had a warm, settled spring in 2007 and this resulted in a good flowering and even fruit set. Good weather continued into summer and our Pinot Noir was harvested relatively early, and well before the rain that Marlborough experienced towards the end of the 2008 harvest. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented on skins and aged for nine months in barrel.

Bouquet: Red berry and cherry aromas are at the forefront of this wine and supported by subtle spicy, earthy aromas.
Palate: An approachable wine with fine tannins, delicious ripe red fruit flavours and concentration.

Winemaking
The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine were sourced from Marlborough and Nelson. A spectrum of clones (including UCD 5 and 6, 10/5 and Dijon clones 115, 118, 375 and 777) were used to add complexity. Conditions were unsettled during flowering in the 2007 growing year resulting in incomplete berry set. Warm weather was experienced post flowering and continued up until harvest. These conditions resulted in low yields but fruit with excellent flavour intensity. The wine was fermented on skins and aged for six months in barrique, 90% of these barriques were French in origin and 10% American.
