Winemaking: The grapes that went into this wine were grown at low yields in premium Mount Riley Marlborough vineyards. Weather at bud burst and fruit set was ideal in the 2009 growing year. Crop thinning was performed resulting in light crops with excellent fruit intensity and concentration. From March right through to the end of harvest Mother Nature was kind to us - we had virtually no rain and were able to pick when flavour was at a peak and sugars and acidity were perfectly balanced. The wine was matured in a mixture of French & American oak barriques (10% new) for ten months before blending.
Colour: Mid red with purple hues.
Bouquet: Bright, fresh plum and dark berry fruit is supported by light spice, chocolate and earthy aromas.
Palate: A medium bodied wine with ripe red fruit flavours and soft, supple tannins.
Drink: A delicious warming winter wine, excellent matched with red meat and game. Drinking well now or cellar until 2015.
