Winemaking: Our Limited Release Pinot Noir was made from a selection of our best Pinot Noir grapes in the 2008 vintage. It shows Mount Riley's trademark purity of fruit supported by an extra dimension of structure and complexity.
The grapes that made up this wine were predominantly grown in Mount Riley's premium 17 Valley Vineyard in the south of the Marlborough's Wairau Valley. This site is exposed to intense sunshine, perfect for the production of grapes with concentration and intensity. These grapes were harvested at extremely low yields and were hand picked. We fermented this wine in small parcels using indigenous yeasts then aged it for 12 months in predominantly French oak barriques.
Colour: Ruby red.
Bouquet: A lifted bouquet with red fruit and floral aromas complemented by earthy and spicy notes.
Palate: An elegant wine with great intensity, concentration and length of flavour.
Drink: This wine is drinking well now. Match with red meat or pasta dishes.
